Tuesday's Treasure

I hope everyone is enjoying their week! I cannot believe the first of the holidays is already coming up in a week! None other than Halloween, one of my favorites (well every season and holiday is my favorite :D) However this year has been different, haven't even figured out our costume ideas, which is soooo not me. I am normally on top of it when it comes to decorations, costumes, food.. but have not gotten in the mode yet :| Well time to stop dinkin' around and get my holiday cheer on :) Hopefully have a post dedicated to Halloween, if I do you'll know I'm back in the mode.
This week's treasure is an oldie, but a goldie :) It's a GREAT staple, otherwise known as a piece you can dress up or down and wear it all the time if ya want :) That treasure is the lovely sweater dress. I was so happy when these started trending years ago because they are comfy, cute, and WARM (most importantly)
I got this particular dress at the most awesome store ever: Ross. Unfortunately the Ross industry has not made it to the mitten, but when they do I will be all over it :). In comparison its like a TJ Maxx or Marshall's, but all in all its WAY better. Their prices decrease each week if the item is not bought, and over a period of time you can literally get a brand new dress (possibly name brand if you're lucky) for $.50. Yes, that's right I said FIFTY CENTS. I know, too good to be true...oh but it is and thus the reason why I miss it SO much. I have become more of a thrifter because of the no Ross problem up here ;)
In addition, I am wearing some pretty amazing boots my mother-in-law gave me (can't beat free ;))They were pretty much brand new when she gave them to me, and they have totally grown on me. Their suede and brown leather, can't go wrong with that ..esp up here in the frigid mitten! :) And my kitty necklace of course ;)
Hope you enjoy this week's treasure! :)

Tuesday's Treasure

It's that time again my friends, time for me to share my treasures. I call them my Tuesday's Treasure's because it was a catchy phrase I came up with and they ARE treasures. They are clothing/accessory  finds that will not break your bank, or bottom out your pocket. I think it is necessary to share things like this to the world, because so many people are spending hundreds of dollars on just one outfit, when there is a whole slew of clothing items just waiting to be found (and way under a hundred bucks!).
Treasure's aren't always thrift finds, or used clothing..sometimes they are brand new items but I consider them treasure's because of their price tags and their uniqueness. Sometimes they are gifts given...aka hand me downs. :) Today's treasure is pretty much that. The top was given to me by my co workers bestie, Kim. She was rumaging through clothes to give to the Goodwill and thought of me when she came across this particular top. And I for one am very greatful! It is SO ME, and I love it! Thank you so much Lisa and Kim for adding to my treasure collection :)

Enjoy this weeks post y'all :) I sure do

The Doors Sequin Top: Hand me down, FREE ;)
Black Pinstriped Maxi Skirt: The Goodwill, Tapemeasure, $3.69
Happy Tuesday! :)

Ladies and gents, Zach and I have joined the dog lover community...but we are still cat lovers, and always will be. Basically we would like a farm of animals by the time we're 60, but hey let's not jump the gun just yet ;)
We had to make a tough decision, and that was to put our cat, Cisco down :( It was the hardest thing we have ever had to do, esp for the hubs (Cisco was literally his BEST FRIEND- and the world's greatest cat) He will forever be rememberd, and never forgotten. It's unfortunate it happened to literally the best CAT ever, but life throws curveballs your way and you somehow have to deal with them. The crazy part is what happened after we put him down. My husband was so distraught that I wanted to cheer him up somehow, and I  knew that seeing live happy animals would do the trick. Well, we made our way to the humane society, checked out the cats (meeh) and then checked out the dogs outsides...5 minutes later we were in love. We met our Lola and instantly had a connection with her. She has the same markings as Cisco, very calm and friendly like Cisco too. It was uncanny, but we knew there was a connection for a reason.
So what did we do? We signed up immediately to adopt her because in a way it was Cisco telling us to, and I just want to see my husband happy :) A week and half later she was all ours!!! It couldnt' have worked out more perfectly, and are so thankful to have found such a great pet----a great tamed puppy at that.
She is a lab/hound mix and is THE sweetest pup I have ever met (and also the quietest). We love her so much and feel very lucky to call her ours.
Everyone meet Lola Vandecar :)

Sweetest.Dog. Ever.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's Tuesday Treasure...its got some spice to it ;)

Tuesday's Treasure

Hello friends!!! I want to apologize for not posting a treasure last week, like I promised in the last post. No excuses, except life is SO busy right now! Our business should end after this weekend, but we'll see, it never ends right? :)
Today's treasure is a one piece goody. I bought it while down south for school back in 2008, in a store called Gili in Myrtle Beach, SC. It always had the best selection of maxi dresses, even during a time when they weren't as popular. I made sure to stock up on them, and today's treasure is just one of the many I have from this awesome store. Unfortunately, there is no Gili up here in Michigan, so I must make it a point to go there when we visit the beach! Its a great store with great prices. Now this isn't like all my other treasures, but a great maxi dress for under $30 bucks is a steal! :) :)
And you can thank my handsome husband for the photos (as always), I just couldn't stop looking at him rather than the actual camera :D What can I say, he's a doll face: that's why I married him, well mostly :)

Maxi Dress: Gili, $24.99
This weekend we are going to South Carolina for one of my dearest friends' wedding on Sunday. Get to go back to southern roots, celebrate love, and my birthday is on Monday! woot woot!
Happy Tuesday!

The Green Room

Hello friends! Hope you're doing wonderful on this fine Monday, not doing too shabby on this end :) I have something fun to share with you all today! No its not a treasure, nor an outfit or an amazing wedding; it is a DIY project I have been wanting to do, and I finally did it :)

Zach and I moved into a cute little vintage home a couple weeks ago (just a rental) and we couldn't be more happy in it! It is SO much better than the apartment we were in, and SO much more homey! I just love it. I also love it because the second bedroom is too small to be a bedroom, but the washer and dryer is in the room...so what better not than to make it my own personal closet. Technically a "walk in closet"..but more of a walk in closet ROOM. That's right, a whole room dedicated to my apparel and accessories. What girl DOESN'T love a big closet? :)

I decided to paint this room, with something bright and fun. Something that fits my personality, and something fresh to go with the times ;) I chose a fabulous shade of green called 'Monet's Garden' and decided to do the infamous "chevron" accent wall. It turned out AMAZING. Definitely better than I thought it would be, considering I didn't use a ruler, nor a leveler :)

The chevron wall was a bit of a P.I.A., however it was well worth it! I'm going to share the photos with you and I sure do hope this gives you inspiration. Inspiration that it CAN be done, and you don't HAVE to measure (unless you have OCD, then definitely measure).

Here's the final product:

And here's how it began, the taping was the PIA :)

Hubby helping :)

all you need is ONE... one wall :)
And here is the end result :)

That standing mirror, used to be a wall mirror :)

My lovely jewelry displays :)

Hope you enjoyed the green room! I was inspired by other's blogs to do this, I just happened to do it a little bit different than everyone else (ya know, by not measuring LOL) Hehe, can't wait for more painting...believe it or not I actually enjoyed it! The end result makes me smile..a lot :)

Tomorrow will be a lovely treasure, now that I  have a huge closet to help me choose a great one (I haven't been thriting in a while, so tomorrows outfit won't be a new purchase, but it will still be  from a thrifted store: but of course) !

Happy Monday! :)
